"Go ye therefore..."

Christians are given a Bible message for the last days.
It is found in Revelation Chapter 14:6-12.
It tells us to worship God as Creator
and keep His 10 Commandment law
out of love for Him.

The Spirit of Prophecy Manifested as a Sign for the Remnant Church in the Latter Days

It would be logical to expect a church claiming to be the remnant church to have someone who has had the gift of prophecy. See Joel 2:28-31. Revelation 12:17 "And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."

Revelation 19:10 "And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy".

Deuteronomy 18:22 "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

Matthew 7:20 "By their fruits ye shall know them."

Isaiah 8:20 "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them."

Given these texts, has there been anyone in the last 150 years who would pass the tests of a true prophet? The answer is yes! If a church claims to be the remnant church, it is logical to expect the gift of prophecy to be manifested in that church. The church is careful to emphasize that the prophet does not take the place of Scripture. As stated in Seventh-day Adventists Believe, “The writings of Ellen White are not a substitute for Scripture. They cannot be placed on the same level. The Holy Scriptures stand alone, the unique standard by which her and all other writings must be judged and to which they must be subject” (Seventh-day Adventists Believe , Ministerial Association, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Washington D.C., 1988, p. 227).

In brief, she was a woman of remarkable spiritual gifts who lived most of her life during the nineteenth century (1827-1915), yet through her writings she is still making a revolutionary impact on millions of people around the world. During her lifetime she wrote more than 5,000 periodical articles and 40 books; but today, including compilations from her 50,000 pages of manuscript, more than 100 titles are available in English. She is the most translated woman writer in the entire history of literature, and the most translated American author of either gender. (Quoted from http://www.whiteestate.org/about/egwbio.asp#who)

Points to Ponder

"The testimonies of Sister White should not be carried to the front. God's Word is the unerring standard. The Testimonies are not to take the place of the Word".
Letter 12, 1890. (Ellen White, Evangelism, p.256

"Every human being, created in the image of God, is endowed with a power akin to that of the Creator-individuality, power to think and to do. The men in whom this power is developed are the men who bear responsibilities, who are leaders in enterprise, and who influence character. It is the work of true education to develop this power, to train the youth to be thinkers, and not mere reflectors of other men's thought."
Ellen White, Education, p. 17.

"The only freedom which deserves the name is that of pursuing our own good, in our own way, so long as we do not attempt to deprive others of theirs, or impede their efforts to obtain it".
John Stuart Mill

"The Sabbath will be the great test of loyalty, for it is the point of truth especially controverted. When the final test shall be brought to bear upon men, then the line of distinction will be drawn between those who serve God and those who serve Him not. While the observance of the false sabbath in compliance with the law of the state, contrary to the fourth commandment, will be an avowal of allegiance to a power that is in opposition to God, the keeping of the true Sabbath, in obedience to God’s law, is an evidence of loyalty to the Creator. While one class, by accepting the sign of submission to earthly powers, receive the mark of the beast, the other choosing the token of allegiance to divine authority, receive the seal of God"
